If you look through my blog, you will find I like these old clips from around the world. I’m sure there is more story behind this than I know. If you have more details, leave me a comment. It’s a short vid, take a look.
I’m getting ready to build a trailer for my trike and have been searching the internet for ideas. While surfing I found this old clip of Cycling in the Netherlands in the 1950’s. It has trailers, cargo bikes, velomobiles and tandems. Looks like heaven on earth. Oh, the old cars are a blast also.
I sure like to see these old clips.
BentRider Online has a recent post of exactly what I have pictured in my mind for a velomobile cover for my delta trike.Simple to build with a minimum number of joints to construct. Smooth and fast according to Rich. Take a look at his post.
ONLINE VINTAGE BICYCLE MUSEUM: FOR THE VETERAN & VINTAGE BICYCLE CYCLE VELO BIKE FAHRRAD
I know this is somewhat off topic for My Recumbent Resources, but I found a couple of hours of entertainment and inovation browsing the pages of Oldbikes.eu. Maybe you will enjoy also.
If you think this is cool, click here:
I don’t know what to say. This is one cool site. If you click this you may be there for awhile. It’s all about old bikes & trikes and other oddities.
You might want to make sure that your kids aren’t looking over your shoulder on one section. It is well marked.
I just love these old news clips. Depending on the sitting arrangement, the passenger may help (when they feel like it) crank. I see there are also pedals but I can’t see how you access them.
1924 Hand Cycle An early Velomobile?
Armchair Cyclist 1948 Is that a 700C?
I love finding sites that have chronicled the velomobile history. Velomobile.org is such a site. My early morning surfing lead me from a Google search of images to the http://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/showthread.php/fairing-36393.html to http://www.british-human-power.com/ to the Russian site of http://velomobile.org/. There I found the link to this wonderful post http://velomobile.org/library/articles-gl/88-2010-03-05-00-02-18 that contains pictures of velomobiles I’ve not seen in the past. Early European velomobiles. The site is in Russian but Chrome translates very well into English.
I guess sex sells in Russia also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UJ1NHc8NLY
This link has a lot of good pictures also. http://velomobile.org/library/articles-gl/87-evropean-velomobiles-middle-the-two-wars
OK just one more. http://velomobile.org/library/articles-gl/86-birthcorpvelomobile
There are many other good links off the velomobile.org site also.
How about a 1947 movie. http://www.britishpathe.com/video/pedal-car
This one is from the 1970’s I think. A serious attempt to market a velomobile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLTi6TxFNsc I found it on one of the Russian sites. Maybe not a bad design for today.
I’ve not a lot to say about the site as I’ve not spent much time reading myself. Just thought others might like to look also. I’ll spend more time tonight.
I’ve no interest in building a steamliner but while studying designs for my delta trike velomobile I ran across this study of streamliner aerodynamics. This one I can understand. Since I don’t have a good place to store this information I’ll just do it in a post to myself.
