One of my favorite pastimes is to read the tour journals of other bike riders. I’m always amazed at the courage, tenacity, resolve, commitment and physical effort put into these rides by sometimes what seems to be very ordinary people. I spend several hours a week living my dream through others who have left an account of their travels on Crazy Guy and other web sites.
Other than watching my children and grand children grow and prosper in their lives, I’ve only one last personal goal, and that is to tour America for several months on my DIY trike. I could even make several months touring Texas. To re-visit South Texas and the valley, the coastal cities of Galveston and Corpus Christi, ride through the forest of Big Bend and see the Palo Duro Canyon in West Texas for the first time.
My first account of a travel journal was not of a bicycle rider but of Tioga and George. George travels the West Coast of the US and Mexico in his Tioga RV. A couple of years ago when I followed the Tioga team for awhile, he had quite a following. George is an interesting person with a somewhat different outlook on life that has found a way to spend his senior years traveling and making friends. His road is not always smooth, but he finds a way. I think George is in his 9th year of traveling with Ms. Tioga and other inanimate members of the Ms. Tioga Team.
This morning I re-charged my minds fantasy in touring by reading the experiences of Across the Northern Tier tour on Crazy Guy on a Bike. This adventure has interesting people from different walks of life, three of them with no previous biking experience. None of them young people, one of them with no arms. I’ll leave the rest up to you to read.
This and many other adventure stories you can find on Crazy Guy on a Bike.
