I’ve started my new trike. I don’t have all the parts or donor bikes yet but I have enough to start. It will be modified version of the AZ DeltaWolf. I’ve cut the rear end of the EZ-3 off and will build a new front end for it. When finished it will look somewhat like the trike on the left.
The DeltaWolf is a much safer bike than the EZ-3. It has a much lower center of gravity so will not tip over as easily as the EZ-3.
Since I can’t weld with an electric welder because of the defibrillator, I’ve been trying to get an Oxy-Acetylene torch so I can braze the frame. Sue’s son, Brett, has located an in-expensive set of bottles that I will pick-up on Monday. I hope they are in good enough shape for the gas supply company to refill. He also has an extra torch to loan me. In the meantime I will be cutting the steel, grinding and fitting the old parts I have and looking for another donor bike for the project.
I don’t think this will be the final trike that I build. I would like to have a trike built on the Lightfoot design of bikes and trikes. They have the ability to carry a lot of weight plus they have a very low center of gravity. The Lightfoot design also has a very wide range of gears. They can climb any hill. It may be slow, but they can climb just about any grade.
Lightfoots are just not noted for being cool looking bikes but great for touring. They even make a line of industrial bikes and trikes.
The DeltaWolf will be a good fitness bike while I’m building my Lightfoot dream machine.
